I'm back from my 3 day stint in Reno. David and I went to Hot August Nights. Long story short..............we're broke now! Reno was not my friend.........had some good laughs with my sister, her hubby and some friends and lost some cash on the slots. Now on to the $20 taxi ride. So I'm up in the 17th floor of the El Dorado Hotel and Casino, totally down since I was losing my butt ::looks behind:: (that one is still there! lol) gambling. After sulking and watching Laguna Beach and Real World Austin re-runs, I decided to check out the phone book for Scrapbook stores. It seems like every city has one so I said "What the Heck?" and gave it a try. I figured I'd rather buy scrapbook supplies than continue to feed these dang machines!
I found a place called "The Scrapbook Cottage".......Sounded great, so I gave them a call to see how far it was. The lady was really nice and says "We're having and all day crop!" Say no more lady, I was downstairs charging through the dang casino hailing a cab!
So I get in the cab and Pat, a woman who's smoking like a freight train, tells me it will be around 12 bucks to get there. Right on! $12 bucks was good for me! I get in and Pat starts with the small talk, my dog went to pound, my son is in rehab, I only make $5 dollars per fare ride..........yada yada. My mind was on the scrapbook store and monitoring that meter like a hawk. I keep on asking her are we there yet? Pat said she would take a short cut. Heh, a short cut. I should have known better. The meter was fast approaching $15 dollars and I'm thinking, I need to get out! I only have $30 cash on me! Then I tell Pat, "are we almost there?" I also mention that I only have $20 dollars (I lied) and I need to get off now. I'll walk the rest of the way. Pat stops the meter at $19.59 and tells me that she'll give me a break. Thanks Pat. Thanks a lot! $12 fare my azz! No tip for you lady!
The Scrapbook Cottage was an awesome store! I met the woman I spoke to over the phone (can't remember her name...something Ann) and she showed me all her new goodies from CHA! She had new Artic Frog (awesome big 'ol rubons!), Junkitz, Basic Grey, SEI, Diane's Daughters.......tons of stuff! I was in heaven! The store was hoppin' due to the crop. ::gasp:: I even saw a man scrapping! Whoa! He was a bit light in his loafers, but that's all good if that's what ya like! :)
I tell the Scrapbook lady about my expensive taxi and she said I got taken. Totally! She then suggested that I take the bus back to the Casino. THE BUS!!! Mind you, I've never been on the bus and never on the bus in a city I don't live in! Then she says "It's only $1.50.".........say no more lady!! That sounded just fine to me! Ann (i think) called and got the bus schedule for me and I continued to chat and shop. I told her about Scrapjazz and showed her my online gallery. She was way impressed! She let me use her internet to check email and surf a bit! Cool lady! If your ever in the Reno Area I highly recommend her store! www.ScrapbookReno.com
So $80 bucks later (i charged it baby!), I'm on the bus and cruising the city of Reno! I got a great tour of all the apartment complexes and I can tell ya that there is some weird people that get on the bus! I guess I was in great company, because my family and husband included thought I was a nut case going to the scrapbook store! After one bus transfer.........45 minutes later I was back in the casino! I went straight to my room and looked over all my goodies! I couldn't to a complete page since I didn't take any of my supplies.......I made a mental note of what I would do with the product!
Here's a picture of all my goodies mostly new stuff and bit of oldies too!! Please excuse the hideous rug.....that's the rug in my garage that was converted into my scrapbook room!
Peace out!
