Mariachi.......and Apples?

Mariachis and Apples......that was my weekend. I know it makes for a wierd blog entry but that's what I encountered this weekend. My Mother asked me if I could drive her to Modesto to attend this Mariachi Fesival thing. I was a good daughter and said yes. It was boring and everything you would expect, ya'know lots of moustached mariachis playing trumpets and guitars. Good thing was that my nephew and his totally-out-of-her-mind-crazy-cool funny girlfriend Shelly was there. She made it fun....here are some snaps I took of us, the black and white one is entirely too close but what they hey. With the whole Mariachi theme, they had mini hats on the table arrangements and Crazy Shelly took them off to put on our heads!

The next day my family was headed to visit an apple orchard, which according to them, it was "only one hour away." Uh, more like 2 and a half! I was getting seriously peeved when it seemed like we had been driving miles upon miles...gezz we might as well should have hit the slots in Reno, which was only like 65 more miles away! I can't belive we drove that far just for apples. We almost crossed the state line into Nevada!

After all that driving, we all ended up in Placerville, CA. It's a small town that is filled with apple orchards. I had never been apple picking before so it was new to me. We drove to a place called Denver Dan's that had the best apple crisp I had ever tasted in my life! YUM! As soon as we got there Mr. Denver Dan himself, was at a table cutting apples with this apple/peeler thing. He says give me your hand Miss. Of course I said no, not knowing what he was doing. He could have been a maniac! Denver Dan insisted and I relented. So I give him my hand, he pulls up my sleeve and makes me give the "thumbs up move" with my fingers then places a gutted, peeled and spiral sliced apple on my finger! Then he proceeded to "dress" it with all kinds of strawberry sauce, apple sauce, caramel and who knows what! Check out my apple thumb....sorry it's not the full done apple....I had started to eat it before snapping a pic! DEEEELISH! but super messy!

After our apple crisps, apple thumbs and apple pie a la mode......as if we didn't have enough apples, we went apple picking. I wasn't able to get too many pictures. I almost had a heart attack when I realized that my batteries were running low!!! I didn't have a back up either. Dang! I was able to snap a shot of my nice Lexi........sweet!!

Well, that is that......please excuse all my typos!

C-ya for now and Peace OUT! -cp

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!

It's May already? Where has the time gone? We are almost halfway through Twenty10! I've been playing with paper and glue lately and recently came up with this layout featuring the new Spring Tags from Shabby Shic Crafts! Loving the awesome Springtime colors and cute designs Veronica and Albert have come up with this time around. This silly little picture of me and my daughter was taken from one of those token taking machines that take your picture and the computer "draws" it out on paper. You know the the ones they have at Chuck E. Cheese type of places? Of all the pictures I have, this has got to be one of my favorite ones I have of me and my baby girl when she was about one and a half. A little closer. loving the cluster above the picture. To celebrate NSD, Shabby Shic Crafts and the Design Team Members are hosting a fun Blog Hop and giveaway! Leave a comment for a chance to win a package of 30 fantastic Tags from Shabby Shic! Where's that baby, huh?

Lot's of emails waiting for me in my inbox that had not been checked in almost one month in a half, (Gasp!!!!) that had been asking if I had given birth yet or if I was going on a 2 year long pregnancy. Even though it seemed that way, either that or I was having a 20 lb baby (ouch..or a 12 lb'er like my local sb friend!)....anywhoo..... Aubrielle Rose Padilla came into this world a whole 2 weeks early, much to my surprise, because I was expecting her around the 14th!... she weighed a hefty 7.2 lbs (I'm kidding, since J was a 9 lber!!) and was a full 20 inches long. She's got all 10 fingers and toes, a full head of dark hair, and she's Jaden's mini me, just a smaller version of him, but with girl parts. lol Hard delivery, long delivery, it seriously dropped kicked me on my caboose. Aubrielle had a bad case of jaundace that we had to address with daily trips to the hopspital but I'm happy to report that she's much better now. I'm sorry this post dos
